AJSA President should look familiar to you all!!!🚨 Red Coat Roll Call!🚨

⭐️ Last but certainly not least AJSA President, Samantha VanVorhis ⭐️

Hey everyone! My name is Samantha VanVorhis, and I’m from Bowling Green, Ohio. I am currently a junior at Oklahoma State University, where I study Agricultural Communications with a minor in Political Science. My show ring journey began with Shorthorns, but it has grown into so much more than I ever could have imagined. While I’ve had the opportunity to show a little bit of everything, Shorthorns have had my heart from the very beginning and always will.

⭐️ What Made Me Want to Run for the Board ⭐️

Running for the board was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made. The Shorthorn family has given me so much over the years, and serving on the board felt like the best way to give back even a small part of what I have gained from the AJSA. I wanted to be the smiling face that helps put kids’ minds at ease in a stressful show ring, the person there to lend a hand with a stubborn heifer, and most importantly, someone who helps create the experience of a lifetime for young exhibitors showing Shorthorns. Knowing that I can play even a small role in someone’s Shorthorn journey is truly what inspired me to run.

⭐️ Must-Have While Working the Ring ⭐️

I must have caffeine and lots of snacks (Thank you ASA Staff)

⭐️ What the Shorthorn Breed Has Done for Me ⭐️

When my journey began 14 years ago with my very first Shorthorn heifer, Angel, I could have never imagined where that single step would lead me. What started with one heifer quickly became so much more than showing cattle, it became a family. The Shorthorn breed has given me lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and people who have stood beside me through every season of life. Some of my greatest role models, closest friends, and strongest supporters have come from this breed. They have celebrated my wins, lifted me up through losses, and shaped me into the person I am today. While the breed has opened countless doors and opportunities, it is the people, the second family I have found along the way that is truly the best thing the breed has ever done for me.

⭐️ Fun Fact About Me ⭐️
